Fourteen Months

Oh how he is growing! John Huston is 14 months old! He has 11 teeth now...four front top, three front bottom and then four molars! He is working on saying a lot more words now and two at a time...Thank You, Hi Daddy, woof woof to dogs and kitty kitty to cats. Discipline has been the big challenge this month as he testing our limits. He runs from us when he knows he is doing wrong and several "no no's" are leading to many spankings. But then he makes up for the naughty behavior with big hugs and open mouth slobbery kisses. His wagon rides have been upgraded to being pulled by Lloyd's lawnmower. He also loves to ride with Lloyd when he cuts the grass. If he sees Lloyd riding the lawnmower, he fusses until Lloyd puts him in his lap. He loves to play copy cat, especially with cleaning. Whenever I dust, he has to have a dust wand to follow and dust behind me and when Lloyd sweeps the hardwood floors, John Huston has to have a mini mop to sweep also.

First Haircut..Big Boy Style

Well John Huston finally got his first haircut. Lloyd had been harrassing me for over a month now to get it cut and I wanted to wait until his One Year pictures had been taken. We made a special trip to Kidz Kutz in Tuscaloosa so he could have the special treatment of sitting in a car themed chair while watching a movie. Well that didn't go as planned. As soon as we put him in the chair, he wanted no part in it. He cried and clung to me when the stranger hairstylist sprayed his hair with water and started cutting it. I ended up having to sit in a chair with him in my lap while she cut his hair. He cried and screamed and clung to me the whole time! I don't know how she did it, but she did a great job and no ears or slinging arms/fingers were snipped in the process. We got a good 1 1/2 inch cut off in the back. It made me sad that my baby's hair was cut off! His hair is more blondish brown now and he looks like a big boy now!

Can you give a little? walk a little?

to help save babies?!
It's that time of year again! The March of Dimes Walkathan!! I am so excited to be a part of the walk this year and will have John Huston with me. Please come support us and come walk. The walk is on Saturday, April 24th at 9:15 am at the UA Rec Center. It is 3.25 miles and is on the pavement sidewalk around campus. I am hoping for lots of our former babies to come for a reunion.
The March of Dimes champions the needs of moms and babies in our community and across the nation. The money we raise for March for Babies will support lifesaving research, services, education and advocacy that help babies get a healthy start.
~This will be the 6th year that I will be participating and I hope we can do even better than we did last year. We won third place in donations and first in the t-shirt contest. If you would like to walk with me, let me know and I will get you a t-shirt. T-shirts are $20 each and they are black with the cutest design. All donations made by sponsoring me through this page will be turned into the Northport NICU donation fund. Please click to right to go straight to my personal page. All donations are due by April 19th~

The mission of March of Dimes is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth, and infant mortality.

Happy Anniversary Blogspot!

Wow it has been one year since I have joined blogspot. I can't believe I have kept up with blogging/posting this long. It has been easier since it is mostly about John Huston and hopefully my family and friends have enjoyed keeping up with him this way!
March is a busy month for us! I have booked John Huston's One Year Pics & Easter pictures with live bunnies. After that we are going for the big First Haircut! March is always a positive because of Daylight Savings Time and we have warm weather that is promised. I look forward to decorating the yard with beautiful flowers. I get to see one of my dear ole' college friends the end of the month since she is coming to Tuscaloosa for a convention and I am looking forward to a dinner night with her. I haven't seen her in 5 years! Then the month ends with John Deere Day. It's an open house at Lloyd's job that people can look at tractors and they have activities for the kids and food.

13 Months & going strong!!

Well by strong I mean a full-forced strong willed baby! He is constantly going at it!! John Huston keeps us on our toes at all times. He is always dragging out things, mainly not his toys, but everything else out to play with. When we are outside, he doesn't walk around, but he runs all over the place. Talking about needing a leash! He especially loves to run across the street to our neighbor's house and dive into their ditch full of leaves. Lloyd got him a John Deere wagon and he loves to take wagon rides all over the yard and down the street. He will even try to push it himself!

He is now off bottles and takes all sippy cups. It took a while to get him weaned, well I should say Lloyd weaned, from their Daddy/son time at night giving him a bottle before bed. He is a good sleeper and will be in bed by 8:30 pm and will sleep until 8-8:45am. What I love best is that he takes one good, long nap in the afternoon. Usually 3 hours! I can get so much done during naptime!! I am still working on meal time and we are still having to give him some babyfood to fill him up. He will take only one or two bites off his plate and then that's it! Why couldn't I just do that (haha).

John Huston is working on 3 molars right now. So he isn't the happiest campier at times. No fever but those poor red and inflammed gums get a good batch of Tylenol/Motrin or teething tablets. He will have 9 teeth total!

He loves to carry around all of his toys, even his big dump truck and big balls that cousin Katie gave him. He also likes to put things back in there place, such as phones back on the hook, my pots and pans in the cupboard, and his toys back in the wagon. The main problem is that he loves to grab his baskets off of the bookshelf in his room and carry them everywhere. Plus dump everything out of them!

We are so ready for Spring & warm weather! We can play outside longer, swing and hopefully Lloyd will build him a sand box to play in.

heart shaped pancakes for my Valentines

Valentine's 2009 (3 weeks old)

We hope everyone had a Happy Valentine's Day!! MeMe & Pop kept JH for us last night so we could go out to eat and see the movie "Dear John" for a nice Valentine's outing. I made yummy heart-shaped pankcakes for my boys for breakfast and we grilled some delicious salmon for supper. We had a great weekend and recalled a lot of memories of the previous year.

Our Little Blizzard

All bundled up

Well we finally got snow after several predictions from the meterologists. I was so glad that I was on my off pattern and didn't have to drive in the winter weather. This was John Huston's second snow as he was only five weeks old on March 1, 2009 when snowed after several years.

March 1, 2009

It started snowing at our house at 8:30 am and ended in flurries around 3:00 pm. Unfortunately it didn't stick, but I saw some gorgeous big snowflakes fall. There is something about when it snows and how peaceful it becomes outside. Pure nature.

John Huston loved chasing all of the white stuff flying around everywere.
Then he was more interested in diving into the leaves and running into our neighbor's yard. He is all boy!! After having to change his clothes twice, we finally came inside to get warm. I just saw where we have another chance of snow for Sun night/Monday. Maybe next time we can build a snowman!
